The Zografou Campus is located near the centre of Athens and can be easily reached by public means of transport, private car or taxi. The nearest metro station (2Km) is Katehaki (ΚατεχÜκη) on line 3 (Blue line: Monastiraki - Doukissis Plakentias - Airport).

Furthermore the campus can be reached:

1. By private means / taxi

2. By public means of transportation

1. Personal Car or Taxi

If you choose to reach the campus library (base stage - Teleconf. room) where the meeting is hosted by private means,  keep in mind that cars (taxis or private) can enter the campus all day through the Kokkinopoulou gate, while Zografou Gate is open only 8:00-9:00 and 14:00-16:00 and Katehaki gate is open during rush hour only (see Campus map).

If you are coming directly from the Airport:

b) When reaching Katehaki exit (exit Y1), turn right.

c) Drive on the left lane and on the first traffic light turn left (Kokkinopoulou Av.).

d) Continue driving on the left and on the next traffic light turn left again. This is the main entrance of the campus.

e) On the next intersection turn right

f) on the next  TWO intersection turn left  and then right

In order to avoid having difficulties to explain your destination to the taxi driver, you can print and show the text below, which is the address and a short description in Greek:

«Κτßριo ΚεντρικÞς ΒιβλιοθÞκης, Πολυτεχνειοýπολη ΖωγρÜφου: Εßσοδος στην πολυτεχνειοýπολη απü λεωφüρο Κοκκινοποýλου (κÜθετος της λεωφüρου ΚατεχÜκη)»

2. Public means of transportation

General Information:

The fee for the buses is 0,45€ (single route) and one has to buy and carry one in advance, since there is no possibility of buying one in the bus. Tickets, though, are sold in almost every kiosk in the city. The fee for the metro is 0,70€ or 0,60€ (Only for 1 or 2 zones of Line 1) (single route) and tickets are sold in every metro station. There’s also the possibility of using the 1.5h ticket, sold in every metro station and other signalized points of sale, which is valid for all public means of transportation apart from the lines from/to the airport. The fee is 1€ and it is valid for 1.5 hours. Apart from the above tickets, the 1-day (3€) and 7-day (10€) travelcards, sold in metro stations and other signalized points of sale, give the holder the possibility to travel by all public means of transport (apart from the lines from/to the airport) for 1 or 7 consecutive days from the day the card was validated. Both tickets and travelcards must be validated only one time.

In principal you can reach the campus either by bus or by a combination of  metro and bus. In short you pick up  metro line 3 and get off  Katehaki st  (exit) . Pick up the exit  to Katehaki av. (leading to the hospital) and cross  the avenue. On the other side of the street there is  a kiosk and  the bus stop. Pick up  bus no. 242.

608 and 230 Public Bus Lines*

The bus line 608 (Galatsi - Akadimia - Nekrotafeio Zografou) connects the suburb of Galatsi to the Suburb of Zografou, passing through the centre of Athens, via Patission st., Akadimias st. and Vassilisis Sofias av. with numerous stops along the route and with frequencies every 7-10 minutes during rush hour. The best connection of this line to the Athens metro system is in Evangelismos (Ευαγγελισμüς) station of line 3. The bus-stop “Evangelismos” towards zografou is located on Vassilisis Sofias av., 100m from the Rizari exit of the metro station. Other connections exist in Victoria (Line 1), Omonoia (Lines 1 and 2), Panepistimio (Line 2) and Syntagma (Lines 2 and 3) stations. An alternative to line 608 is line 230 that links the Acropolis to Zografou via Ambelokipi and Goudi, every 25 to 30 minutes on rush hour. A useful transfer station to this line is Ambelokipi on line 3. For NTUA get off the bus at the '8th of Zografou' stop and walk to the "upper" gate of the campus, which is the one at Iroon Polytechneiou 9, then follow the red-paved path to the administration building (see Campus map).

140 Public Bus Line*

There is also the Public bus line 140 (Polygono - Glyfada) that links the Court of Law in Evelpidon st. in Polygono to the southern suburb of Glyfada with many stops through its long route and with frequencies every 20 minutes during rush-hour. The bus stops near the "lower" gate of the campus, on the cross of Katechaki Av. and Kokkinopoulou St. You can also get on this bus at the same bus stop as 242 or the NTUA free shuttle, close to Katechaki metro station. The disadvantage of using this bus is that one has to walk for about 20 minutes, from the "lower" gate to the building where the meeting is held.On the other hand, the advantage is that most of the cars pass through that gate and someone might give you a ride!

Airport

From Athens Airport to Athens center you can use taxi, or the busses or the metro/suburban railway.

  ---Taxi

A taxi journey from the Airport to Syntagma Sq. will usually cost from €15 to €30 and last 30-60minutes depending on the traffic you will encounter. The exact due fare is displayed on the meter and an extra amount of €1-3 will be added as charge for luggage (€0.30/piece), airport access and tolls (paid by the customer).

Be aware that fares greater than €30, especially if traffic is fluent, are suspicious as there have been cases of fraudulence. The taxi driver is obliged to give you a receipt upon request. If traveling any time from 5 in the morning to midnight make sure the the meter reads '1' (i.e. simple rate). Only from midnight to 5 am should the meter read '2' (double rate). There is a price list a the front seat of the taxi.

Do not take "taxis" from touts at the airport - get one from the official taxi rank.  It is quite normal for taxis to pick up other passengers en route, but everyone still pays the full fare for their trip (this is an accepted, though illegal, practice).
Minimum fare is 1.50 euros.

You can call a radio taxi if you wish at a 1.50 euros surcharge for immediate use, with an additional charge (2.30 euros) to make an appointment for a later time.

Tipping is optional - usually round up the amount to be paid adding 1 - 2 euros (or about 10%). During the Easter and Christmas holiday period, there is a surcharge of 1 euro.
